The
American Medical Association (AMA) has recognized
findings that Researchers at Milwaukee's Medical
College of Wisconsin reported in their product
comparison study:
"Exercisers on treadmills burn about 700 calories
per hour, while exercising "somewhat hard", versus
only 500 calories per hour on stationary bikes. On
rowers, stair steppers, and cross-country-ski
simulators exercisers burn about 600 calories per
hour."
*The 875 is approximate calories dependent on speed, body weight and incline
A cardiopulmonary and cardiovascular comparison study* performed by researchers at The University of Texas Health Center at Tyler which was published in THE JOURNAL OF CARDIOPULMONARY REHABILITATION found that: 1. Test subjects processed an average of 26% more Oxygen V02 (ml/kg/min) while walking on an Orbiter Treadmill than while walking on a conventional (Quinton) treadmill.
and
2. These same test subjects' heart rate averaged about 10% higher on the Orbiter treadmill than on the conventional (Quinton) treadmill.
